The Entophiles records are structured four levels deep. The top level asks you to select one of the 14 Ordinal groupings of insects. The next level displays an index of thumbnail photos for the selected ordinal group. Selecting a thumbnail image brings up the individual insect page and displays a description and photo of the insect. The deepest level down displays a photographic enlargement of the insect. You can perform a search on these records. Navigation is accomplished through Entophiles device icons, plug-ins and pop-up menus. Use the guide below to familiarize yourself with the function of each choice. As a general rule, moving your cursor over an icon presents instructions in the browser status bar at the bottom of your browser window.

Located at the top of the entophiles device, you'll find a panel with the following five navigation icons to help you move around the insect records. Order Selection Icon This icon returns you to the top level index page listing the 14 ordinal groupings of insects. The Order Selection Icon appears on all entophiles pages and can be considered the home icon. Previous Order Index Icon This icon returns you to the previous Order Index Page containing thumbnail photos for the current ordinal group of insects being viewed. If you are currently viewing an Ordinal Index Page, this icon takes you to the previous Ordinal Index Page. Previous Insect Record Icon This icon returns you to the previous Insect Record Page containing a detailed description and photo of the insect. This icon generally takes you to the previous page in the entophiles database. Next Insect Record Icon This icon advances you to the next Insect Record Page containing a detailed description and photo of the insect. This icon generally jumps you up to the next page in the entophiles database. Next Order Index Icon This icon advances you to the next Order Index Page containing thumbnail photos of the next ordinal grouping of insects.   Order Index Pop-up List As an added convenience, you can jump to any Order Thumbnail Page by using this pop-up list available on all Insect Record and Order Thumbnail pages.
